September 16th to 22nd marks the Rainforest Alliance’s third annual Follow the Frog Week—a social media campaign that encourages consumers to support a healthy planet by looking for the Rainforest Alliance’s little green frog when shopping and traveling. Companies are encouraged to participate in the campaign by highlighting their support of the Rainforest Alliance and engaging their customers in the importance of everyday choices.
“The green frog seal is a guarantee that goods come from well-managed farms and forests that protect people, wildlife and the environment,” said Tensie Whelan, president of the Rainforest Alliance. “Follow the Frog Week is a prime opportunity for businesses to celebrate sustainability and highlight their commitment to Rainforest Alliance certification.”
Companies can get involved in Follow the Frog Week by hosting an event or competition, offering a promotion or raising awareness through social media. Businesses can learn more about Follow the Frog Week and how to participate by downloading the Rainforest Alliance’s online toolkit and registering for email updates regarding promotional plans.
By encouraging consumers to look for the green frog when they shop and travel, consumers can vote with their dollars to support sustainability. The Rainforest Alliance certifies farms and forests and verifies tourism businesses that meet rigorous conservation standards. To date, the organization’s efforts have brought over 185 million acres of land—an area larger than the size of Texas—under responsible management and have directly benefited more than 11 million people worldwide. Consumers can spot the green frog seal in more than 120 countries across the globe, and in North America alone, over 3,400 companies buy or sell products featuring the seal.
