The rumors are true… the Rainforest Alliance is taking Regenerative Agriculture mainstream.
Agriculture drives almost 90% of deforestation, and more than half of farm soil around the world is moderately or severely degraded. Doing less harm is not enough anymore, we need to restore, heal, and regenerate our critical ecosystems—and farming has a crucial role to play.
Over the last few years, the Rainforest Alliance has been working with farmers and experts to develop a credible and robust Regenerative Agriculture standard, aligned with internationally accepted criteria. Built on decades of sustainable and regenerative experience, including extensive field experience with regenerative principles and practices, the Rainforest Alliance Regenerative Agriculture certification solution will launch later this year.
Restoring soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem function is an urgent need for farmers, businesses, and global economies. Farmers deserve to be able to pass fertile land on to future generations. Consumers deserve to feel peace of mind that their choices make a real difference. And companies should not have to sacrifice their future survival by degrading the ecosystems they rely on.
Stay tuned for more announcements.
