Labeeb M. Abboud is Chairman & CEO of the Global Health Investment Corporation (GHIC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving human health worldwide. GHIC pursues a double bottom line investment model, applying traditional life science investing tools to fund innovations with the potential for both global health impact and meaningful financial returns. Labeeb served as a member of the Rainforest Alliance Board of Directors for thirty five years (between 1988 and 2023).
Previously Mr. Abboud was general counsel of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) and prior to that to Atriax, a London-based electronic marketplace for foreign exchange products and related services. He has also held the positions of group counsel to American Express Bank, Ltd., and attorney with Shearman & Sterling in New York.
Abboud has served as pro bono counsel to the Rainforest Alliance and a variety of other non-profit organizations, and has also been an active participant with Junior Achievement and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He has been on the board of the Rainforest Alliance since 1988, is a director of Shackleton Schools, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. He is a graduate of Wesleyan University and Georgetown University Law Center.
