Julius Ng’ang’a has over 20 years of experience in sustainable agriculture production, processing, marketing, and supply chain management. He is an expert in working with both the public and private sectors in the management of certification, climate change, regenerative agriculture, and community and landscape restoration programs.
Julius joined the Rainforest Alliance in 2013. Previously, he worked as the General Manager at Sustainable Management Services Limited (SMS LTD) and Highlands Coffee Company (HCC), which are ECOM group companies for coffee management, marketing, and milling in Kenya. For over eight years, Julius worked with over 200,000 smallholder farmers in certification programs on UTZ, Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Café Practices, and 4C standards, adaptation, and mitigation to climate change. Prior to this role, Julius dedicated over eight years to consultancy in coffee, working for a coffee milling and marketing Apex Cooperative in Kenya, and he also researched and taught at university level.
Julius is an agricultural engineer. He holds an MSc in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Nairobi and a BSc in the same field from Egerton University.
